Brigitte Timmermann, is a Vienna based historian and licenced guide-lecturer. She studied English language and literature as well as world and British colonial history at Vienna University and received a scholarship for PhD research in London . She taught English Language and World History in Grammar School for more many years but sought a new career orientation to reconcile family and professional life. She now works as a senior lecturer in adult education, runs her own guiding business and writes books. Her fascination with, and interest in, THE THIRD MAN goes back to the late eighties. Extensive research in Austrian and British archives and film institutes followed. To share her fascination with the film with other film fans, she started a special themed walking tour in Vienna which, quite unexpectedly, turned out to be a tourist magnet. The tour eventually led to the coffe-table book “Der dritte Mann. Auf den Spuren eines Filmklassikers”, her second publication.
